Founding Developer Relations Lead

Asymptote Labs
York, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 7/27/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/25/2026

Company Description

Asymptote is building the AI Detection & Response layer for the agentic enterprise. AI agents are becoming enterprise infrastructure, but security teams have no unified system of record for what they're doing. Asymptote delivers the telemetry, detection, and response layer that makes AI agent activity observable and secure.

Beacon is our open-source foundation powering that future. It was named one of the hottest open source cybersecurity tools in June 2026.

Role Description

We're looking for our Founding Developer Relations Lead to help build the defining open-source community in AI agent security.

We're looking for a rare profile: an exceptional engineer who loves open source as much as they love people. Someone who loves contributing to open source, building in public, engaging with developers, and growing technical communities. If you get as much energy from shipping code as you do from speaking at meetups, helping users, and bringing people together, you'll thrive here.

This isn't a traditional DevRel role. You'll help drive adoption of Beacon, contribute directly to our open-source ecosystem, and become one of the leading voices in AI agent security. Working directly with Asymptote's founders, you'll shape our developer strategy, influence product direction, and help establish Beacon as the open standard for AI agent telemetry. You'll have exceptional autonomy and ownership from day one.

What you will do

Grow the Open Source Community

  • Grow and nurture the Beacon open-source community.
  • Contribute code, examples, integrations, and tooling to the project.
  • Build relationships with OSS maintainers, AI tooling companies, and security practitioners.
  • Become a trusted voice within the AI, developer, and cybersecurity communities.
  • Represent Asymptote at conferences, hackathons, meetups, podcasts, and technical events.

Create Technical Content

  • Publish high-quality technical blogs, demos, tutorials, videos, and example projects.
  • Showcase new product launches, integrations, and real-world use cases.
  • Build educational content that helps developers deploy Beacon in minutes.
  • Demonstrate what's possible with AI agent telemetry and security.

Drive Developer Adoption

  • Create world-class onboarding, documentation, and developer experiences.
  • Partner with Engineering to make Beacon delightful to integrate and extend.
  • Help developers successfully deploy Beacon across their environments.
  • Identify friction points and advocate for product improvements.

Build the Ecosystem

  • Expand integrations across AI coding assistants, security tools, SIEMs, and cloud platforms.
  • Build reference architectures, starter projects, and community examples.
  • Support strategic technical partnerships.
  • Help establish Beacon as the open telemetry standard for AI agent security.

Influence Product

  • Gather feedback from developers, security teams, and design partners.
  • Bring community insights directly into product roadmap discussions.
  • Work closely with Engineering on developer experience, APIs, and SDKs.

What we're looking for

  • 5 years of experience in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, Solutions Engineering, or a similarly technical GTM role.
  • Experience at a high-growth AI, developer tools, infrastructure, or cybersecurity company.
  • Strong software engineering background with the ability to build production-ready demos and contribute to open-source codebases.
  • Proven track record of creating technical content that drives developer adoption (blogs, talks, videos, workshops, or tutorials).
  • Experience growing an open-source community or developer ecosystem.
  • Exceptional technical communication skills—you can explain complex systems to developers without oversimplifying.
  • High agency and excited to build Asymptote's DevRel function from the ground up.

Bonus

  • Existing relationships within the AI, open-source, or cybersecurity communities.
  • Conference speaking experience.
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding agents, LLM infrastructure, or AI security.

Why Join Asymptote

  • Help build the defining open-source community in AI agent security.
  • Own the developer strategy for one of the fastest-growing open-source projects in the space.
  • Work directly with the founders and shape both the product and the ecosystem around it.
  • Exceptional compensation: $150,000–$300,000 base.
  • Meaningful founding-stage equity for the right candidate.
