GENERAL MANAGER (GM) POSITION OVERVIEW
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the business. This role serves as the central point of leadership within the restaurant and ensures clear communication between staff and senior leadership.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operations Management
- Lead, manage, and mentor management teams and staff
- Ensure exceptional service standards through proper execution
- Maintain overall business vision, including operational and marketing goals
- Develop and implement risk management strategies
- Handle employee relations and resolve concerns professionally
- Ensure adherence to company standards and policies
- Track and maintain daily operational reports
Staffing & Team Development
- Analyze staffing needs and develop hiring strategies
- Recruit, interview, and onboard top talent
- Train, coach, and develop both management and hourly team members
- Drive team performance, morale, and productivity
- Conduct regular performance evaluations
Fiscal Responsibility
- Monitor financial performance and expenses
- Develop and manage sales forecasts and profitability
- Communicate key metrics and updates to leadership
- Drive revenue through marketing, networking, and team incentives
- Manage budgets including labor, cost of sales, and operating expenses
- Review P&L statements and take action on variances
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 8 years of hospitality leadership experience
- Experience managing high-volume operations ($10M preferred)
- Food safety certification (OSHA preferred)
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Solid business and financial acumen
- Proficiency in restaurant systems (MICROS, Aloha, Squirrel, etc.)
- Ability to identify challenges and execute solutions effectively
