About the Opportunity
A well-established national, multi-office insurance defense law firm is seeking an experienced Illinois-licensed Attorney to join its Chicago office, focusing on Medical Malpractice, Nursing Home, and General Liability Defense litigation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 5–10 years of General Liability Defense experience who is looking to advance their litigation career, take on greater responsibility, and expand their practice.

Key Responsibilities
- Handle Medical Malpractice, Nursing Home, and General Liability Defense litigation matters.
- Manage cases through various stages of litigation, including investigation, discovery, mediation, and resolution.
- Evaluate case findings, liability, damages, and potential litigation exposure.
- Develop effective litigation strategies and legal arguments.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery documents, legal memoranda, and other litigation materials.
- Prepare and respond to written discovery requests.
- Attend court hearings, mediations, and other litigation proceedings.
- Conduct legal research and provide legal analysis on complex defense matters.
- Advise clients regarding litigation risks, potential outcomes, legal rights, and obligations.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, insurance carriers, experts, and opposing counsel.
- Develop new client relationships and maintain existing business.
- Meet assigned billable-hour and productivity requirements.
- Collaborate with attorneys and legal support staff to provide high-quality client service.
Qualifications
- Active Illinois Bar license in good standing required.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- 5–10 years of General Liability Defense litigation experience preferred.
- Medical Malpractice or Nursing Home Defense experience highly desirable.
- Strong background in Civil Litigation and Insurance Defense.
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Ability to independently manage litigation matters and produce high-quality legal work.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Westlaw, and legal time-billing software.
- Interest in business development or building a litigation team is a plus.
