Quality Analytical Chemist

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Duration: 2–3 Month Contract Assignment (Medical Leave Coverage; potential for extension)

Pay: $28.00–$31.00/hour (flexibility for highly qualified candidates)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible start/end times may be available)

Overtime: Rare; occasional weekend work or overtime may be required for major projects.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Analytical Chemist to provide corporate quality support for analytical test methods and laboratory operations. This position will support analytical method validation, optimization, laboratory troubleshooting, and quality initiatives across manufacturing and external laboratory partners.

This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical chemist with strong instrumentation experience who enjoys method development, troubleshooting, training, and collaborating across quality, manufacturing, and regulatory teams.

Key Responsibilities

Analytical Method Support

• Maintain and ensure analytical test methods for company products remain current, accurate, and effective.
• Improve and optimize existing analytical methods and testing procedures.
• Lead analytical method verification, validation, and transfer activities.
• Develop and implement method change requests as needed.
• Coordinate and perform physical properties and stability testing.
• Conduct and close GLP studies as the Study Director and Technical Writer.
  
  

Laboratory & Quality Support

• Train plant, supplier, and customer laboratory personnel on analytical methods and instrumentation.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to internal and external laboratories.
• Support instrument evaluations, purchases, installations, and training initiatives.
• Track laboratory performance through Round Robin studies and other qualification programs.
• Develop continuous improvement initiatives based on laboratory performance feedback.
• Assist with laboratory investigations, nonconformance reports, and corrective actions.
• Support laboratory management system governance and auditing activities.
• Maintain electronic systems and records in accordance with 21 CFR Part 11 requirements where applicable.
  
  

Regulatory & Project Support

• Support product development, process improvements, and regulatory initiatives.
• Coordinate with external laboratories and suppliers to obtain samples and testing information.
• Prepare and review chemistry protocols, validation reports, and technical documentation.
• Prepare and finalize Master Manufacturing Procedures (MMPs) and Customer Registered Methods (CRMs).
• Review and approve Confidential Statements of Formula (CSFs) for chemistry logic and calculations.
• Provide project updates, summaries, and reports to business stakeholders.
  
  

Laboratory Operations

• Maintain laboratory equipment, standards, calibrations, and inventories.
• Prepare chemical solutions and testing samples as needed.
• Perform routine laboratory documentation and clerical activities.
• Ensure laboratory operations are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of five (5) years of analytical laboratory experience.
• Strong experience with analytical instrumentation, including:
• HPLC
• GC
• GC-MS
• LC-MS
• Ion Chromatography (IC)
• Karl Fischer
• FTIR
• pH testing
• Titrations and wet chemistry techniques
• Experience with analytical method validation and troubleshooting.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality systems.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Chemistry or related field.
• Experience with analytical method development and optimization.
• Background in quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives, including:
• ISO 9001
• SPC/SQC
• TQM
• Quality Management Systems
• Experience supporting GLP studies and regulatory testing programs.
