Position Overview
The Production Planner is responsible for developing, managing, and executing production schedules to ensure customer demand and delivery deadlines are consistently met. This role collaborates cross-functionally to align production plans with inventory, capacity, and material availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production schedules aligned with sales forecasts and customer demand
- Create manufacturing plans based on resource capacity, inventory targets, and business needs
- Review MRP outputs and release work orders to support production requirements
- Monitor schedules and proactively resolve exceptions or disruptions
- Partner with Purchasing to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components
- Collaborate with Production and Operations teams to ensure alignment and execution of plans
- Maintain accurate documentation for reporting, traceability, and audit purposes
- Prepare and distribute weekly, monthly, and quarterly production schedules
- Update and maintain procedures in accordance with business system requirements
- Work with global planning teams to manage and adjust safety stock levels
- Ensure appropriate inventory coverage across distribution centers
- Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes
- Support additional planning or operational initiatives as needed
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in materials planning, production planning, or logistics
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, or a related field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and resolve issues under pressure
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access)
- APICS certification preferred
- Primarily office-based with extended periods of computer work
- Occasional time spent on the production floor and in warehouse areas
- Minimal travel required (≤5%)
