Position Summary
The Optical Engineer II supports manufacturing performance through process ownership, technical troubleshooting, equipment oversight, and technician support. This role ensures processes remain validated, resolves production issues, and drives continuous improvements in quality, yield, cost, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain ownership of optical manufacturing processes to ensure validation, compliance, and stable performance.
- Troubleshoot product, process, equipment, and material issues; lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Provide daily technical support to production technicians and incorporate feedback into process improvements.
- Identify and execute improvements to yield, cycle time, quality, cost, safety, and process robustness.
- Ensure production equipment is maintained, safe, and operating within specifications.
- Support product development activities, including DFM, process development, and capability assessments.
- B.S. in Optical, Opto-Mechanical, Photonics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering AND an advanced degree or 2–4 years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience with Zemax, ProE/Creo, or SolidWorks
- Medical device manufacturing experience
- Programming skills (preferred but not required)
