Research Lab Tech

M-F, 8am-4:30pm

Contract to Hire ($21.63/hour)

The candidate must demonstrate excellent pipetting skills and strong attention to detail. A foundational understanding of general molecular biology techniques is required, as the role involves training in next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies. Responsibilities include NGS library preparation, quality assurance/quality control procedures, and PCR.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of technical and general laboratory duties.
• Follow established policies and procedures for DNA/RNA sample handling, processing, QC analysis, reporting, and maintenance of instruments.
• Adhere to laboratory quality control policies by ensuring accurate documentation and maintaining required records.
• Perform complex technical procedures according to approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including NGS library preparation, target enrichment, and Illumina sequencing.
• Collaborate with the laboratory supervisor to review and troubleshoot procedures and work assignments; document any deviations from established procedures.
• Assist with the assessment and validation of new NGS-based assays.
• Perform auxiliary laboratory functions, including routine instrument maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment such as automated liquid handlers.
• Carry out other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors or equivalent in Microbiology or Biology
• Hands on pipetting experience
• Excellent note taking/ attention to detail
• 1-2 years of lab experience
