What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Support / IT Technician / IT Help Desk position at Astreya?
Level 1: Field Technician I (Physical Layer Specialist)
Focus: Execution, Physical Installation, and Validation.
- Experience: 0–2 Years.
- Data Center: "Rack and Stack" operations. Physically installs servers, switches, and storage. Understands Hot/Cold aisle containment and asset tagging.
- Cabling: Proficient in copper (CAT6/A) termination, professional cable dressing (combing), and labeling. Follows rack elevation drawings with high precision.
- Wi-Fi: Performs physical AP mounting and cable pulling. Conducts "passive" site surveys (walking a pre-defined path with a sensor).
- Construction & Facilities: Assembly of racks and aisle containment. Routine visual inspections of cooling/power units. Adheres to "Clean Build" and OSHA protocols.
- Tooling: Basic use of cable verifiers (LinkSprinter), power drills, and label makers.
- Communication/ Documentation: Provides clear, concise updates to team leads and managers regarding physical layer build progress and project blockers . Able to ask clarifying questions in a concise and timely manner. Notes specific equipment details, serial numbers, and port locations without errors. Delivers organized, written summaries of incomplete tasks to incoming shifts to prevent dropped work.
