Data Center Technician

Buckeye, AZ – Onsite

Contract

USC or GC

35-40/hr W2

Role summary

Hands-on data center technician responsible for overnight hardware operations in a live, enterprise data center. Works largely independently on nights,

executing scheduled change work and responding to hardware and environmental issues, with escalation support available.

Core responsibilities

- Perform hardware break-fix: DIMM, disk, SFP/transceiver, cable, and power-supply replacements per implementation plans

- Execute scheduled changes — power pulls/cycles, device decommissions and unracks, server installs and racking — following the documented change/decom process

- Work ServiceNow change tasks (CTASKs): follow the implementation plan, leave accurate work notes, and close out tasks

- Escort and support vendor field engineers (e.g., IBM, Oracle) during break-fix and installs

- Respond to environmental/power alerts (PowerIQ/Sunbird) and physical infrastructure issues overnight

- Handle secure media and grey-space work per physical-security procedures (badge/DIRAK access, media destruction/salvage handling)

- Send the daily shift/change summary to leadership

Required

- Prior data center / hardware operations experience (rack-and-stack, structured cabling, component replacement)

- Comfort executing and documenting changes in ServiceNow (or equivalent ITSM)

- Able to work overnights independently and make sound judgment calls under limited supervision

- Physical requirements: lifting equipment, ladder work, extended time on the floor

Preferred

- Cisco/network hardware familiarity; DCIM tooling (Sunbird); basic scripting

- Experience in a change-controlled / CAB environment

Someone who can be engaged and productive overnight - having worked overnight successfully will be more heavily weighted than experience not worked during that shift
