Job Description
We are seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist for Imports in the Americas. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and executing a standardized regional import compliance program. This role requires direct experience with Americas import compliance and coordination with the Manager of Imports Americas.
Responsibilities
Support the strategic development, delivery, and execution of a standardized trade compliance program in coordination with the Manager of Trade Compliance – Imports Americas.
Assist in investigations, audits, or disclosures regarding the company's import compliance activities in the Americas.
Conduct root cause analysis and support resolution of compliance issues based on audit findings.
Facilitate trade compliance training for the Americas, prioritizing as directed by the Manager of Trade Compliance – Imports Americas.
Stay updated on international trade compliance regulations, company policies, training, and audit programs for the Americas.
Research trade regulations and rulings, determine regulatory basis for classifications, and communicate with internal clients and external service providers.
Provide guidance on multiple international trade compliance matters as needed.
Adhere to international trade compliance policies aligned with goals and objectives.
Support the trade compliance recordkeeping program, ensuring organization and maintenance as needed.
Engage with compliance service providers to resolve inquiries and requests.
Monitor and manage daily trade compliance-related international transaction holds and reviews, ensuring compliant transactions.
Identify areas for process improvement in resolving trade compliance-related issues.
Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and work instructions.
Stay informed on issues and regulations impacting trade compliance activities through various resources.
Perform other duties related to trade compliance as required, maintaining a customer-focused attitude.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree required.
Direct experience in import compliance for the Americas.
5–7 years of industry experience in international trade.
Subject matter expertise in trade compliance areas such as import regulation, classification, and valuation.
Fluency in English, both oral and written.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and work under time constraints.
Experience managing brokers and brokerage operations.
Audit and data analysis experience.
Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and charting/graphing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Customs Broker License strongly preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Familiarity with E2Open trade system is a plus.
Working knowledge of Oracle and Trade Automation (E2Open) is preferred.
Project management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel.
Work Environment
This position offers a flexible work schedule with the option to work from the office from Tuesday to Thursday, with hours from 8 AM to 5 PM. Employees can start between 8 AM and 8:30 AM, provided they work a full 8-hour day.
