Job Title: HR GeneralistJob Description

The Human Resource Assistant plays a vital role in facilitating human resource processes across all business locations. This position involves supporting the Quality Director in assigning and tracking training through our online system, and assisting the Safety Director with data entry, file maintenance, and document processing. The HR Assistant provides customer service to employees at all levels and offers administrative support to the human resource function, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Complete Form I-9, verify I-9 documentation, and maintain I-9 files.
  • Process garnishments, levies, bankruptcies, and child supports.
  • Conduct audits of payroll, benefits, or other HR programs and recommend corrective action.
  • Assist with processing of new hires and terminations.
  • Aid in the preparation of the performance review process.
  • Assist with training selection, assignment, and tracking.
  • Schedule meetings and interviews as requested by the VP of HR.
  • Perform clerical functions such as making photocopies, mailing, scanning, and emailing documents.
  • Scan and file documents into appropriate employee tabs in Vista and HRIS.
  • Assist or prepare correspondence as requested.
  • Process mail and perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Effective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • At least three years of clerical experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Some basic HR background is beneficial.
  • Office management and administrative support experience.
  • Human resources knowledge.
  • Comfortable handling confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks assigned by multiple people.
  • Experience in employee relations, onboarding, HR systems, and HR administration.
  • Proficiency with Outlook.

Work Environment

This is an in-person position at our Birmingham office located on Messer Airport Highway near Avondale. The role requires availability during core hours from 8-3, with flexibility in other hours. This is a full-time position with all benefits available on the day of hire. You will be part of a close-knit team working directly with the VP of HR/Safety.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $52000.00/yr.
