What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Representative position at Astera Health?
We are looking for a Patient Access Representative to join our team! This individual will perform a variety of Business Office procedures associated with the patient registration and scheduling processes in a variety of departments. All functions of this role are performed with a high degree of confidentiality.
This position is 80 hours per biweekly pay period and includes daytime hours scheduled between 7:30 a.m - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. This position may be required to float to our satellite clinics based on needs and schedules. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Receives patients and visitors and ascertains their needs to assist them using a caring and professional manner
- Secures demographic and financial information from patients or family, obtains necessary signatures and enters information into the electronic health record to complete the registration process
- Schedules appointments and maintains provider schedules
- Operates telephone console using a caring and professional manner to assist callers, answers questions and transfers calls to correct departments when appropriate
- Requests and receives payments on accounts and prints receipts; reconciles and compiles daily cash drawer
- Completes and submits supply requisitions to keep current stock of necessary supplies and forms
- Opens and closes office for clinic security

Physical Requirements:
Sedentary Duty: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body (based on U.S. Department of Labor data). The following physical activities are required to perform this job:
Occasionally (up to 33% of work time): Standing, walking, reaching, lifting.
Frequently (34-66% of work time): Sitting, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, near acuity vision.
Education and Experience Required:
- High school diploma or GED, or in the process of obtaining
- Or combined years of relevant education and experience to perform the essential duties of this position
