What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Specialist position at Astemo?
Essential Functions
1. Work with international ocean and air freight forwarders, warehouse personnel and production control to coordinate daily activity. This includes working with group employees to schedule trucks, monitor reports for accuracy, maintain accurate ETA times in Sight Draft system, and report significant deficiencies or issues to manager
2. Oversee compliance of in-house Duty Drawback program- for all eligible imports, including researching eligible products, working with customers, freight forwarders, and drawback company, filing appropriate documents with drawback company or customs
3. Manage compliance for import/export. Including evaluation of Customs Broker performance.
4. Self-motivated to see areas for improvement in the I/E group and assist in projects
5. Be responsible for HTS classification for ASTEMO - this requires someone who is a methodical thinker and a problem solver
6. Oversee local content reporting programs (NAFTA, AALA, CAFE, etc.) including all reporting duties to customers and/or the government
7. Maintain internal local content database by acquiring country of origin information from suppliers.
8. Help maintain accurate country of origin information in the shipping database.
9. Manage all freight activities including
a. Milk run loading plans and routing
b. LTL routing and tracking
c. Supplier compliance and claims
d. Packaging Procurement and Approval
e. Shipping supplies management
f. Dunnage inventory and conditions
g. Auditing of freight billing accuracy
h. Ocean freight routing and tracking
i. Sight Draft maintenance and process improvement
j. ASN tracking and reporting
Qualifications
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Possession of sound computer skills- Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Ability to communicate and represent ASTEMO in a professional manner with customer via telephone and in person Preferred: 2 years of experience in Import/Export- HTS classification, Compliance, Duty Drawback, local content reporting programs Group Leadership skills Critical thinking skills
Customs Brokers License a plus Associate or Bachelor Degree in related field
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None, however, must work closely with Procurement and Customer Service personnel to ensure comprehensive reporting
Working Conditions
Physical Demands: Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
Travel: Minimal except for occasional training
Work Environment: Office and shop floor
