It has created the "first brand of luxury culture" by opening boutiques where one can discover a world of good taste, excitement, and intellect a place where "culture can be acquired" within a luxurious environment. One can purchase complete book collections as well as objects that belong in contemporary libraries such as perfumed candles and "cabinets of curiosities"
Assouline Publishing is seeking a Senior Designer to join its creative team. We're looking for a strong designer to help design beautiful books focusing on luxury lifestyle - fashion, travel, art, gastronomy, etc. Candidates should have excellent communication, multi-tasking, and creative conceptualization skills. They should be adept at working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and have the ability to juggle multiple projects at once.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to art directors, senior designer is responsible for approximately 15-20 luxury book projects per year.
- Set up templates, design layouts, route materials within deadlines, review color proofs, gather files for printer, and marking up for the production department
- Work with Art Director, Creative Director, and Editors from concept stage to finish.
- Conduct art/image research.
- Creating compelling cover designs and interior layouts for various book formats
- Prepare files for reprints
- Liaise with outside departments, including Editorial, Communication, and Production
- Archive completed files on server for reprint updates
- Attend weekly status meetings
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years print experience, with prior experience in the luxury industry a plus
- In-depth knowledge of offset print production a plus
- Strong typographic and color (CMYK and RGB) skins
- Superior attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task, meeting various deadlines at once
- Excellent knowledge of Mac OS and Adobe Creative Suite applications: InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Knowledge of French a plus
