The Association of Test Preparation, Admissions, and Private Tutoring (TPAPT) is seeking a college advisor to work with students in grades 9-12 on their school lists, applications, essays, and supplementals.
Position: College Admissions Coach
Classification: Contract (1099)
Hours: Seasonal, 10-25 week
Location: Remote

Day-to-day activities might include the following:

We're looking for experienced admissions officers, IECs, or high school counselors to work with families embarking on the college journey.
Day-to-day activities might include the following:
- Monthly, bimonthly, or weekly meetings with students and parents to create and review college admissions strategy
- Develop a balanced college list based on students' goals, backgrounds, and interests
- Provide college essay support and feedback
- Plan application submission timeline and strategy (ED 1, ED 2, EA, Reg. Decision, etc.)
- Curate students' activities resume
- Plan for and request letters of recommendation
- Provide admissions interview coaching
- Plan for campus visits and tours
- Manage academic, standardized test, and extracurricular plans for students
- Coach students through independent projects (non-profit, small business, community workshop, etc)
- Review and compare admissions offers with students and families
- Maintain open and regular lines of communication with students and parents to ensure that clients feel supported
- Earned Bachelor's
- 10 hours/ week of availability
- At least two years of experience as one of the following:
- Associate Dean/ Director of a US four year degree granting college or university
- US public or private school designated College Prep counselor
- A better than average knowledge of the college admissions criteria at competitive schools, little ivies, and hidden gems
- An outgoing, empathetic personality along with strong relationship-building skills
- Proven, exceptional writing skills
- The ability to work independently and a "manage up" mentality
- Strong attention to detail and strong project management skills
- High degree of confidence with web-conferencing, document sharing, online lessons
- $75-$90/hr commensurate
- Flexible schedule
