Exciting Opportunity for an Experienced Nonprofit Executive Director
Due to new client acquisition, Association Acumen, LLC, is seeking an experienced Executive Director for a 4,000 dynamic international nonprofit professional membership organization. The successful applicant should have a minimum of 5 years' experience as an Executive Director leading boards, developing strategy, and overseeing all organizational operations. We're looking for someone with exceptional supervisory and leadership abilities who possesses creative and sound analytical skills while handling multiple priorities. Should have demonstrated experience providing strong financial management and budgetary oversight to nonprofit boards. No out of state resumes please. This is a hybrid position with a two days work from home benefit available after completion of the three-month probationary period. Approximately 4-6 weeks travel annually. Essential Job Functions
- Leadership: Provides visionary leadership for the association and demonstrates the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in directing the operations of the association in accordance with the bylaws, mission statement, strategic plan and policies and procedures established. Works with the Board to ensure the strategic plan is up to date. Provides leadership of staff team, implements and manages timelines, suggests best practices and efficiencies, manages direct reports.
- Financial Management: Works with leadership to draft the annual budget, provide financial projections throughout the year to steer organizational decision making, identifies financial deviations from budget and works with leadership to adjust strategies and spending, as needed. Monitors monthly financial reports and provides financial overview with talking points to Treasurer for Executive Committee and Board meetings.
- Operations: Responsible for the effective operation of the association and provides consultation to the President and Board regarding fiscal, legal, and contractual responsibilities. Maintains regular contact with President and key officers. Works to create opportunities for generating revenue streams. Attends all Board and Executive Committee meetings, prepares agendas and minutes. Ensures a high level of customer service. Manages adherence to bylaws and policies of the organization.
- Membership: Oversees efforts to increase and retain membership base, manage membership recruitment and retention plans. Oversees chapter management.
- Education: Oversees efforts to offer high-quality educational programming and certification and recertification programming.
- Certification and Recertification: Provides oversight and direction for the management and promotion of the programs.
- Awards: Oversees awards program.
- Elections: Oversees election process and adherence to bylaws throughout process.
- Conference and Meetings Management: Oversees all conference and online training educational efforts and meetings management as well as exhibitor management and logistics oversight. Responsible for profitability and effectiveness of conference.
- Communications and Publication Coordination: Oversees the creation of editorial timelines, content review, and content management. Supervises public relations activities. Manages the development of appropriate website and social media content and design. Acts as association spokesperson, as needed.
- Sponsorship: Responsible for securing and growing sponsorship revenue for the association.
- Database and Website Management: Oversees the creation and maintenance of member, non-member, and certification/recertification databases, including maintenance of continuing education credits.
- Committee Management. Provides staff oversight and visionary guidance for all committees.
- Any other duties or projects as requested. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Skills/Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor's Degree
- CAE (Certified Association Executive) preferred
- Have dynamic leadership and supervisory skills; open to continuous evolution personally and professionally
- Have ability to build upon established best practices; handle multiple demands and priorities and achieve organizational objectives
- Demonstrate creative, flexible and sound analytical skills in complex problem-solving situations
- Have demonstrated work ethic, great communication skills (both written and spoken)
- Enjoy being thoroughly organized; excellent attention to detail
- Be a self-starter in a fast-paced ‘hit the ground running’ environment
