Job Summary:
The Sr. Accountant supports asset management, lease accounting (ASC 842), and property tax compliance for Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. (AWG). This role maintains depreciation schedules, prepares reconciliations, manages real and personal property tax filings, and assists with CapEx budgeting, fleet compliance, and audit support to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
Job Duties:
- Track fixed assets across all companies and divisions; maintain depreciation schedules for book and tax.
- Track leases within LeaseQuery database for ASC842 compliance and reporting.
- Prepare period &, quarterly fixed asset reconciliations and roll forwards.
- Prepare period &, quarterly lease reconciliation and roll forwards.
- Prepare renditions for personal property tax.
- Track and pay real and personal property taxes.
- Interface with consultants to ensure properties are valued fairly and assist with appeals.
- Prepare period reconciliations of all property tax accounts.
- Approve asset requisitions and ensure assets are properly capitalized and non-capital purchases are
- properly expensed.
- Assist with annual CapEx budgeting and re-projections.
- Prepare annual budget for real estate and property taxes.
- Fleet compliance; IRP, IFTA, UCR, HHUT and other related filings.
- Assist with year-end audit and special projects, as directed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Working knowledge of SAGE/FAS fixed asset software helpful.
- Working knowledge of LeaseQuery or other ASC842 software.
- Experience in fixed asset management and depreciation; basic understanding of GAAP and tax as related
- to fixed assets.
- Property tax experience helpful.
- Attention to detail is extremely important.
