Role Description
We are seeking a Client Development Specialist for a full-time, on-site position in Sugar Land, TX. The Client Development Specialist is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities while strengthening relationships with existing clients. This role supports the growth of the engineering consulting division by leveraging industry connections, generating leads, and contributing to strategic marketing and proposal efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the geotechnical engineering and consulting market
- Build, maintain, and expand long-term relationships with clients and industry partners
- Leverage professional networks and industry associations to generate leads and gain insight into market trends and competitors
- Support business development efforts by preparing proposals, qualifications packages, and other client-facing materials
- Collaborate with internal teams to align client needs with company capabilities and services
Core Duties
- Serve as a primary business development contact for an assigned office, department, or service line
- Develop and maintain a strong network of client relationships using personal and professional contacts
- Regularly engage with clients and prospects through in-person meetings, calls, and industry events
- Coordinate and schedule meetings to introduce or reinforce the company’s services and expertise
- Partner with technical and operational staff to support client outreach and project pursuits
- Generate new leads and project opportunities through networking, referrals, and market research
- Work with operations leadership to develop and execute targeted client development strategies
- Stay active in relevant professional organizations to expand visibility and monitor competitor activity
- Provide regular updates to leadership on pipeline activity, sales goals, and business development progress
- Collaborate with corporate and marketing teams to support coordinated pursuit strategies and branding efforts
- Assist in planning and participating in conferences, trade shows, and other promotional events
- Use internal tools and market intelligence to prioritize high-value opportunities
- Adhere to company safety policies and actively participate in safety planning and reporting
- Ensure all deliverables meet established quality standards
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- OR Equivalent combination of education and at least 7 years of related business development experience
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships and generate new business
- Strong communication, networking, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
