Summer Activity Camp: Youth Art Camp Instructor (Montlake CC)
The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, is hiring an Activity Camp [Youth Art] Instructor to deliver camps at Montlake Community Center. The Youth Art Instructor will be responsible for programming and delivering several art-related summer camps to children aged 5-12 years. The Youth Art Instructor will be responsible for creating lessons and teaching the fundamentals of art and creative projects. The instructor must have the ability to engage with a diverse group of children and manage a classroom of students. A passion for teaching and art are a must!
Schedule
- Monday – Friday approx. 21.25 hours per week. Approx. 8:30am-12:45pm (with participants 9-12pm). Hours not guaranteed and depend on enrollment. Note: this is 1.25 hours paid prep per day without participants.
- Hiring by Date: June 5, 2026
- Training dates: On-site training will take place between June 24 and June 26, 2026. Details TBD.
- Program dates: June 29th – August 21st, 2026
Pay Range:
$25- $27 hourly DOE/non-exempt; seasonal summer position only

Summer Activity Camp: Youth Art Camp Instructor Job Responsibilities:
Programming:
- Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate activity camp lesson plans/activities in the subject area of art with weekly themes of “Recycled Creations, Cartoon Art, Nature Art, and Around the World Art” for ages 5-7.
- Instructors are expected to program their camps with support from the Activity Camp Administrator
- Use critical thinking to problem-solve
- Generate supply lists for camp; there will be some class supply funds available
- Maintain camp appropriate professional appearance
- Daily set-up, take down and cleaning of space
- Reports to Associated Recreation Council Activity Camp Administrator
Relationship Building:
- Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants
- Collaborate with Activity Camp Administrator and other on-site staff to ensure safety of all participants
- Collaborate with Activity Camp Supervisor to manage behavioral concerns of all participants
- Communicate with parents, coworkers and Seattle Parks and Recreation partners in a professional and courteous manner
- Attend all required meetings and trainings
Care and Safety:
- Follow safety protocols and ensure participant compliance
- Complete required accident/incident forms
Summer Activity Camp: Youth Art Camp Instructor Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Prior youth programming experience required
- Prior art programming experience required
- If hired, you will have approximately 2 hours of Human Resources new hire onboarding/training and 8-12 hours of on-site on-boarding/training which will include behavior management, programming, parent communication, reporting procedures, etc.
