Position Summary
Working in our manufacturing plant, The Material Handler / Color Room Attendant plays a critical role in supporting material flow, color room operations, and inventory accuracy within the Extrusion Department. Responsibilities include transporting raw materials, color additives, finished goods, scrap, and regrind; issuing and returning color materials; performing cycle counts; kitting parts for planned jobs; and coordinating product movement between production and warehouse locations, including Buildings 6 and 7. This role requires safe operation of mobile equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, lowboys), strong attention to detail, and effective communication with production teams to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
The atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment that is issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Physical demands may include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing/pulling, forward bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, postural balancing, manipulating, trunk rotation, handling, gripping, and talking (hearing).

Key Accountabilities
Primary Duties:
- Move and stage materials including cartons, scrap, regrind, finished goods, color additives, and pallets throughout the Extrusion Department.
- Transport finished products to and from Buildings 6 and 7 as required, ensuring timely flow of materials between production and storage (T05 Luran K-bin).
- Issue color materials and process returns to the color room as needed.
- Band and secure pallets to prepare for shipment or storage according to company guidelines.
- Perform standard packer duties as needed, including packing boxes, erecting cartons, and palletizing.
- Conduct routine checks on mobile material-handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, lowboys), including fluid checks, and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Review stock for accuracy and perform daily cycle counts to maintain Inventory Accuracy and Color Room Service Level targets.
- Assist with job kitting, staging, and timely delivery of materials to support maintenance and production efficiencies.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times following 5S and Visual Workplace standards.
- Communicate effectively with operators, packers, and supervisors to anticipate and respond to material and product movement needs.
- Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and operating procedures when working on or around machinery and mobile equipment.
- Assist with special projects or additional tasks as directed by leadership
- Accurate and timely movement of raw materials, color additives, and finished goods.
- Safe operation and upkeep of forklifts, pallet jacks, lowboys, and other mobile equipment.
- Clear communication with production personnel to support efficient workflows.
- Compliance with all safety, housekeeping, and quality standards.
- Proper documentation, labeling, and tracking of material transfers and product movement.
- Accuracy in inventory, color issuance, cycle counts, and color room organization.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Demonstrated safety awareness and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Experience operating forklifts and lowboys (certification preferred)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability when handling materials and inventory.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot, take initiative, and follow through on assigned responsibilities.
- 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, extrusion, or warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with product banding, pallet staging, packaging processes, and material movement.
- Basic understanding of extrusion materials, color inventory, and production flow.
- Previous experience with inventory tracking systems, cycle counting, or warehouse documentation.
