Registered Nurse Supervisor (RNS)

Job Summary:

Supervises staff nurses. Reports to Nursing Director with unresolved staff or patient issues. Creates environment of patient-focused care. Provides nursing care through physical and mental assessments, laboratory testing, plans of care and therapeutic treatments. Knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders; cognitive, emotional, developmental, social and behavioral. Performs crisis intervention.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervision of staff nurses.
• Availability to staff when Nursing Director is unavailable.
• Remain up-to-date on current policies and procedures.
• Lead weekly RN meetings (once in place).
• Demonstrate critical thinking.
• Assessment and Care Planning.
• Performs nursing assessments and reassessments as per policy.
• Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain.
• Continuously observes patient's behavior, mental status, and activities.
• Formulates and implements patient plans of care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team.
• Revises plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluates overall plan for effectiveness.
• Patient Care.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform crisis intervention and triage.
• Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.
• Communicates appropriately and clearly to the Nursing Director, co-workers, providers, and Leadership Team.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to facilitate individualized, optimal care for patients.
• Treats patients with respect and dignity; provides emotional support.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
• Provides education to the patient concerning plans of care, compliance with the plan of care, medications and their side effects.
• Functions as a patient advocate at all times.
• Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
• Medication Management and Administration.
• Knowledgeable of medications, including psychotropic drugs, and their correct administration based on the age of the patient and their clinical condition.
• Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
• Documentation
• Documentation meets current standards and policies for all patient care and medication management.

Professional Requirements:

• Meets dress code standards; appearance is professional, neat, and clean.
• Completes annual educational requirements.
• Maintains regulatory requirements.
• Ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
• Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
• Attends staff meetings regularly, arrives punctually and actively participates as necessary.
• Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
• Maintains a good working relationship within the program and with other programs.
• Orients new staff members and volunteers as needed.
• Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Regulatory Requirements:

• Current state Registered Nurse Licensure in the State of Missouri
• Current BLS certification

Language Skills:
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Skills:
•    Basic computer knowledge.
•    Strong interpersonal skills.

Salary : $72,000 - $81,000
