Purpose and Objective of the Position
The Behavioral Health Supervisor (Lead Therapist) is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of a behavioral health care team consisting of Associate Therapists, Counselors, Certified Peer Specialists (CPS), and Community Support Specialists (CSS). This position serves as the direct supervisor for assigned team members, supporting and coordinating the delivery of behavioral health services for clients on their caseloads.
In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Behavioral Health Supervisor maintains an active therapy caseload and provides direct clinical services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership:
- Provide daily supervision and oversight of Associate Therapists, Counselors, CPS, and CSS
- Participate in interviews, hiring decisions, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance evaluations
- Assign schedules and manage caseload distribution for supervised staff
- Oversee practicum students and ensure assigned activities align with institutional Learning Agreements
- Track required staff training for accreditation purposes and ensure compliance with training standards
- Clinical Oversight
- Review and oversee new client admissions to ensure accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation
- Conduct regular audits of client charts to ensure treatment plans are current, appropriate, and aligned with client needs
- Meet weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly with assigned Therapists, Counselors, CPS, and CSS to review client progress, outcomes, and case plan revisions
- Maintain awareness of client grievances and facilitate resolution between clients and clinical staff, including CPS and CSS
- Oversee and participate in crisis intervention and stabilization efforts as needed
Program Operations & Reporting
- Collect and analyze department, therapist, and counselor performance data
- Present performance data to the Executive Director (or Director of Behavioral Health, as designated) in the prescribed format and timeframe
- Travel to other ARCA facilities as needed for staff oversight, client meetings, and departmental meetings
Direct Client Care
- Perform duties of an Associate Therapist by managing and delivering billable clinical services
- Carry and maintain an assigned therapy caseload

Required Licenses and Certifications
- LCSW or LPC required w/ 5 years clinical experience
- Valid driver’s license
Minimum Skills and Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the behavioral health field
- Experience assigning, directing, and coordinating the work of other employees
- Strong critical thinking and sound judgment skills aligned with organizational and departmental policies
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Proficiency with standard office equipment and basic PC skills, including Microsoft Office
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, prioritizing organizational goals over individual interests
Salary : $50,000 - $65,000
