What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrostatic Powder Finishing Operations Lead position at Assist Staffing?

If you thrive on coaching teams, solving process issues, and hitting quality metrics in a fast-paced environment, this role is for you. You’ll guide a crew of 13–20 through a structured first-shift schedule, ensuring every coated part meets customer standards and ships on time.
What you’ll tackle
- Own daily department workflow and balance labor to meet production plans.
- Train, coach, and review team members; uphold safe, efficient operations.
- Confirm start-up and shutdown steps are executed correctly every shift.
- Supervise loading/unloading, masking, and plugging to specification.
- Inspect finishes against paint-class and customer criteria; initiate fixes fast.
- Coordinate with production, quality, and management to protect on-time delivery.
- Diagnose coating equipment or process issues to reduce downtime and scrap.
- Verify packaging, labeling, and inventory transactions match customer requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement (Kaizen, Lean) toward zero defects.
- Maintain OSHA-compliant safety and clean work areas.
Schedule & environment
- First shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday.
- Minimal weekend work; modern facility with American-made production standards.
Bring this experience
- 2–3 years in powder coating operations with hands-on application.
- 2–3 years supervising or leading teams of 8–12 people.
- Strong communication, organization, and comfort with email and ERP tools.
- English literacy for safety/quality documentation.
- Ability to lift 35 lbs and stand for full shifts in production.
Extra points for
- Forklift experience; conveyor or batch-oven familiarity.
- ERP or scheduling software experience.
- Exposure to OEM or ISO 9001 standards.
