What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Instructor, Practical Nursing (1.0 FTE) position at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Using the framework provided by the Massachusetts Nurse of the Future, the Assabet Practical Nursing Program curriculum plan and Student Learning Outcomes; organize plan, implement, and evaluate assigned nursing courses in cooperation with the other nursing faculty.
2.Assist with the development of policies and procedures for Practical Nursing Program Handbook.
3.Attend faculty meetings as voting member of curriculum committee, promotions committee and Program Advisory Committee. Faculty in 1 FTE positions are also voting members of the admissions committee. Serve as recording secretary on a rotating basis.
4.Adhere to clinical agency policies and/or contractual agreements regarding student and faculty practice.
5.Complete faculty orientation program for clinical agencies to which assigned. Participate in AVRTHS Mentor Program.
6.Prepare, implement and review course syllabi and teaching materials in accordance with the NOF curriculum framework and Student Learning Outcomes of the program.
7.Hold periodic meetings with representatives of each cooperating agency to evaluate the experience. Such meetings shall be held at least once each year. Submit written agency minutes which shall be retained on file each term.
8.Carry out school policies as directed by administration.
9.Coordinate student behavior problems with the Director following handbook policy.
10.Counsel students regarding academic and/or clinical progress; provide or arrange remediation as needed.
11.Maintain all Clinical Resource Lab equipment and supplies with respect to safety and housekeeping.
12.Maintain attendance and clinical records for assigned students and submit grades, clinical evaluations and exit minutes to the Practical Nursing Director
13.Be available for extra help and make-up work weekly throughout the program as per union contract.
14.Supervise assigned student clinical experiences and assist with plans for rotation of students through clinical experiences.
15.Assist with the orientation and mentoring of new faculty.
16.Continue to improve expertise in nursing and teaching through any one or combination of the following: academic study, clinical practice, certifications and other appropriate learning activities.
17.Establish a collaborative relationship with other school staff and health care agencies.
18.Assist in the preparation of the budget. Participation in program spending and purchases. Research new teaching tools, provide rationale and cost consideration of all products books and services.
19.Assist in Systematic Evaluation Plan for continuing ACEN accreditation and Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing approval.
20.Maintains expertise in program technology.
Salary : $86,048 - $104,849
