ASRC Federal Advanced Research (AFAR) is a premier provider of technical and mission-oriented services with contracts supporting federal government agencies and the US Army. Our team of professional management and technical personnel partners directly with the U.S. Army to support cutting-edge research, prototyping, and testing of next-generation ground vehicle technologies at the Detroit Arsenal. From modernizing legacy platforms to enabling autonomous and self-driving logistics vehicles, our teams play a hands-on role in shaping how the Army moves equipment, fuel, and supplies more safely and efficiently in the field. Overview
The Material Expeditor should be able to provide and is responsible for:
- Providing technical services in the areas of loading and unloading of shipments of material from trucks, trailers, racks and material conveyances.
- Arranging shipments and materials in an organized manner and locate shipments in designated areas within the shop for location and future use.
- Use overhead cranes and forklifts (hi-lows) of various sizes to move materials inside and outside of the shop area.
- Pack and unpack crates, stencil, weigh, wrap, and band equipment and supplies for shipment or storage. The contractor shall follow the delivery procedures in marking and storing of shipments in designated areas.
- Operate shop floor cleaning equipment necessary to maintain the main aisles and display areas within the shop.
- Follow all safety, regulatory and environmental/hazardous standards IAW ISO 14001.
- Capable of standing all day and lifting 45 lbs.
- Assist in facility management activities to include: logistics, inventory control, inventory management, material and equipment dispositions and other facility responsibility.
- Minimum of one year experience in operating various sizes of wheeled forklifts to move materials inside and outside of the shop area and be capable of obtaining an Arsenal hi-lo- operator’s license.
- Possess knowledge of electronic and manual inventory processes and have a minimum of one year of experience in electronic inventory tracking system to include barcoding, scanners and process for storage of materials.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- Pass a federal background check.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of related experience.
