Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital in Rhinelander, WI is seeking a SURGERY FIRST ASSISTANT to join our SURGERY team!
The Cardiovascular First Assistant provides exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation while optimizing results for our patients. Essential elements in the art and science of first assisting are attention to detail, thoroughness and complete concentration on the operative field. These activities will only be performed as delegated tasks under the direct and immediate supervision of the responsible cardio-thoracic surgeon.
HOURS: This position is Full-time, 0.9 FTE or 72 hours per pay period. Day shift with call.
Experience/Qualifications
- Knowledge of surgical standards and practices normally acquired through graduation from an approved accredited school of Surgical Technology.
- Has advanced knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and operative technique related to the operative procedure in which the First Assistant will assist.
- A minimum of six months on the job training/experience as a First Assist.
- Certification as a Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) is required within 1 year of hire into the position.
- Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
