We are currently seeking a SOCIAL WORKER / COUNSELOR in Houghton, Michigan to work in our Houghton Clinic. The social worker / counselor provides assessment, diagnosis, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention services to patients with psychosocial problems and mental disorders and is a referral and consultation resource to medical staff.

• Evaluates clinical symptoms and plans treatment interventions for patients with emotional, social, relationship and/or behavioral health problems.
• Provides a continuum of short- and long-term psychotherapy services to individuals, couples and families, children and adults based upon each patient’s needs and resources.
• Provides resource information and consultation to medical staff and community providers on mental health related topics.
• Provides educational presentations on mental health related topics to staff, community groups and other organizations as requested.
• Coordinates the services provided by the consulting psychiatrist.

Experience/Qualifications/Licensure

• Knowledge of counseling techniques and protocols normally acquired through completion of a master’s degree in one of the following areas: industrial/organizational psychology, social work, psychology, community counseling, educational counseling, or professional counseling.
• Current Michigan LMSW, LPC or LMFT license, or ability to obtain
• Experience preferred, but we will consider new grads!

Hours: This position is Full Time; 1.0 FTE or 80 hours per pay period. Day shift.
