Responsibilities
- Safely operate transit vans, or specialized transport vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and vehicle codes.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical readiness before each shift.
- Follow established routes and schedules accurately while responding quickly to traffic changes or unexpected delays.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing excellent customer service and support as needed.
- Maintain clear communication with transportation coordinators and team members, clients, and families.
- Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including first aid and CPR when necessary.
- Obtain Class E license.
Skills
- Clean driving record.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, defensive driving techniques, and emergency stop procedures.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to traffic changes or emergencies during routes.
- Experience working with individuals requiring special assistance; understanding of behavior management strategies is advantageous preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment as needed.
- Familiarity with emergency response procedures such as CPR and first aid certification is highly desirable.
