Yard Control Clerk (Guard Shack) – Full-Time - Overnight

Location: Indianapolis, IN 46221
Schedule: Fixed Front Half or Back Half schedule

(Sunday–Wednesday / Wednesday–Saturday)

Shift: Overnight 12-hour shifts

Front Half (FH)

• Sunday: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Monday: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Tuesday: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Wednesday:7:00 PM – 1:00 AM

Back Half (BH)

• Wednesday: 1:00 AM – 7:00 AM
• Thursday: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Friday: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Saturday: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

The Yard Control Clerk is responsible for controlling site access and supporting yard operations within a fast-paced logistics environment. This role ensures the accurate tracking of inbound and outbound trailers while maintaining a safe, secure, and organized facility.

The Yard Control Clerk plays a key role in maintaining operational flow by verifying driver information, monitoring yard activity, and ensuring compliance with Aspire XDock SOPs and customer expectations. This role primarily operates from a guard station and requires consistent interaction with drivers, yard personnel, and operations teams. Work may be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Work Hours Expectations

This role operates in a fast-paced, time-sensitive logistics environment where schedules are driven by freight volume and customer demand.

Employees work 12-hour shifts on a fixed Front Half or Back Half schedule:

Employees can expect 42 hours per week, with overtime paid after 40 hours. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and adjusted schedules based on operational needs is required.

• Starting pay from $21.00 per hour
• 42 hours per week
• Overtime pay after 40 hours

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and check in drivers, visitors, and vendors
• Verify identification and confirm scheduled appointments
• Log inbound and outbound trailers using the yard management system
• Communicate with yard, dock, and operations teams to support workflow
• Perform yard audits to ensure accuracy and organization
• Monitor yard activity and report unsafe or suspicious conditions
• Verify load identifiers and appointment times for accuracy
• Maintain accurate records of all site activity
• Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions
• Support overall yard and gate operations to maintain efficient flow

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience in yard operations, logistics, security, or warehouse environments
• Familiarity with yard management systems or similar tracking tools
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer and data entry skills

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Valid driver’s license required
• Strong multitasking and organizational skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment
• Ability to work both indoor and outdoor conditions
• Ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
