Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough client assessments to evaluate substance use, mental health status, and co-occurring disorders using DSM-5 criteria and clinical documentation standards.
- Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and other evidence-based practices.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction medicine, mental health counseling, and behavioral health improvement.
- Implement crisis intervention techniques and crisis management strategies to support clients during acute episodes or emergencies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management, discharge planning, and community or home-based care initiatives.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR) in compliance with HIPAA regulations while ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
- Engage in ongoing research and data collection efforts to monitor treatment outcomes and improve clinical practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; licensure or certification as required by state law for addiction counseling or clinical therapy.
- Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, including familiarity with addiction counseling techniques and DSM-5 diagnostic evaluation.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral therapy methods such as applied behavior analysis (ABA), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and case management approaches.
- Experience working with diverse populations from various cultural backgrounds in mental health or behavioral care settings.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for medical documentation, patient assessment, and clinical records management.
- Ability to handle crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention skills and crisis management protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for client assessment in therapy, client communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
