Job Title: Asphalt Sealcoating Lead Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Asphalt Sealcoating Lead to join our pavement maintenance team. The Sealcoating Lead is responsible for overseeing and performing all aspects of asphalt sealcoating projects, ensuring quality workmanship, safety, and efficiency on every job. This role requires hands-on work, leadership in the field, and the ability to direct a small crew to complete projects on schedule and to company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and work alongside crew members to complete asphalt sealcoating projects efficiently and safely.
- Plan daily job tasks, organize materials, equipment, and manpower needs.
- Operate sealcoating equipment, spray rigs, squeegees, and other related tools.
- Ensure proper surface preparation including cleaning, crack filling, and barricading areas.
- Mix and apply sealcoat materials per specifications, maintaining consistent coverage and quality.
- Layout and direct striping operations when included in job scope.
- Train and supervise crew members on sealcoating techniques, safety procedures, and quality control.
- Inspect completed work for quality assurance and adherence to specifications.
- Communicate with the operations manager and customers regarding job status, scheduling, and site concerns.
- Maintain and perform basic service on trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Ensure job sites are left clean and organized after completion.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of asphalt sealcoating or related pavement maintenance experience required.
- Prior leadership or crew foreman experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL a plus).
- Strong understanding of sealcoating materials, mix ratios, and application methods.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, layouts, and job site maps.
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in outdoor environments (heat, cold, dust, etc.).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings during peak season.
