Senior Electrical Designer
Location: Portland, OR
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join a dynamic and growing team in Portland, OR. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that support the core operations of industry-leading clients, including semiconductor manufacturing, data centers, and other advanced manufacturing facilities.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects while collaborating with a talented, multidisciplinary team delivering world-class design solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform computer-aided drafting and design for:
- Electrical power distribution systems
- Lighting systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Communication systems
- Develop layouts, sketches, 2D/3D models, and electronic drawing packages using AutoCAD and Revit MEP
- Coordinate with engineers and design leads to deliver complex design packages
- Lead project design efforts and ensure deliverables meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements
- Develop staffing plans aligned with project schedules and deliverables
- Mentor and guide junior designers and drafters
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design solutions
- Maintain familiarity with client standards, expectations, and project requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 8 years of Revit/BIM design experience
- Demonstrated experience leading design efforts or project teams
- Experience with electrical power distribution design projects (mission-critical facilities experience is a plus)
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and components such as:
- Switchgear
- Transformers
- Panelboards
- Generators
- UPS systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and apply best practices
- Passion for buildings, construction, and innovative design
- Associate's degree in Electrical Design or a related field
- 3 years of semiconductor facility experience
- Familiarity with NEC and electrical design standards
