Assistant Project Controls Specialist
Location: Bloomington, MN
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Assistant Project Controls Specialist to support our client's project controls team in Bloomington, MN. This role will assist in all aspects of project controls and reporting, including change management, cost control, progress tracking, and schedule development. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to grow within project controls in an engineering or construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with project setup in Enterprise Planning & Controls software
- Input data, maintain logs, and generate reports using project controls systems
- Support development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Assist in preparing and maintaining scheduling reports, cost reports, cash flow analyses, and forecasts for small projects
- Follow and support project execution plans
- Review and assist in approving Purchase Orders and Subcontracts for proper coding
- Track and document changes to cost reports and forecasts
- Support upstream (prime contract) and downstream (purchase order and subcontract) change orders
- Assist in developing project cash flows
- Contribute to the development of project schedules, including logic ties and resource loading
- Coordinate project schedules and support scheduling report development
- Retrieve, review, and distribute pre-programmed scheduling reports with supporting documentation
- Assist in updating and documenting schedule progress
- Support the development and maintenance of earned value management systems
- Verify progress measurements and maintain progress curves
- Assist with material takeoffs
- Perform quality checks on project controls deliverables
- Participate in field audits to validate reporting accuracy and processes
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- OSHA 10-hour certification (or ability to obtain)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
