Service Technican/Mechanic (Heavy Haul Trailers)

The Heavy Haul Trailer – Service Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of our customers’ custom trailers. Quality repairs need to meet or exceed the original factory fit and finish.

Main Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance, inspection, and repair all systems on Heavy Haul Trailers to meet standards set forth by OEM and DOT
• Clean, lubricate and perform preventative maintenance
• Inspect to identify worn and inoperative components
• Test equipment for proper performance
• Adjust and/or replace defective parts
• Air & ABS braking systems
• Basic 12-volt Electrical. Harness, connector, and lights
• Hydraulic System
• Air and mechanical suspension
• Wheel end components for drum and disc applications
• Repair, Replace and align axles – wheel seals, bearings, races
• Small engine maintenance and repair.
• Inspection of trailers for annual Federal DOT
• Completing written work orders and associated paperwork in an accurate and timely manner

Attributes and Skills

• Must have strong mechanical knowledge and understanding
• Full understanding of all relevant safety and compliance regulations, policies and generally accepted work practices relating to heavy duty trailer shop operations
• Good Time Management skills required
• Must have effective Problem-Solving skills
• Must have a good attitude and the ability to work well with others
• Desire to Learn
• Should take Pride in your work
• Computer keyboarding skills and a basic understanding of computer business systems

Experience and Education

• Graduate of vocational program or
• Minimum 3 years experience in heavy duty maintenance and repairs
• CDL preferred but not required

Working Conditions

• The work performed is carried out indoors in a regulated environment – occasional outdoor work required
• Regular exposure to industrial shop hazards which require additional protection from noise, fall hazards and air quality. Safety boots must be worn.
• Regular fast pace or work with tight deadlines
• A medium stress environment due to timelines

Shift Availability

• Monday to Friday – 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
• Overtime occasionally available, ability to work longer hours when needed
