Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Estimator / Quoting Specialist to help us grow our contract manufacturing business. We are an American company that primarily sells to customers throughout the United States, with our manufacturing facility located in Tijuana, Mexico.
We provide manufacturing services to a wide range of industries, with capabilities that include:
- CNC milling
- CNC turning
- Sheet metal fabrication
- MIG welding
- TIG welding
- Laser welding
- 3D printing
- Metal part and assembly production
This role is focused on reviewing incoming opportunities and preparing accurate, competitive quotes for customers. We provide the leads — your responsibility is to evaluate the manufacturing requirements and build pricing based on material costs, production time, tooling, setup, labor, hourly rates, and any additional costs required to complete the job profitably and competitively.
Responsibilities
- Review customer drawings, prints, RFQs, BOMs, and part specifications
- Prepare accurate quotes for metal parts, assemblies, and selected 3D printed components
- Estimate costs based on:
- Raw material pricing
- Machining time
- Fabrication time
- Welding time
- 3D printing time and material usage
- Tooling and setup costs
- Labor and hourly shop rates
- Outside processing, finishing, or secondary operations
- Work closely with internal production and engineering teams to confirm manufacturability
- Identify cost drivers, risks, and opportunities to improve pricing accuracy and efficiency
- Help develop pricing strategies that are competitive while maintaining profitability
- Revise quotes based on customer changes, updated prints, or production feedback
- Maintain organized records of quotes, assumptions, and costing details
Qualifications
- Proven experience quoting or estimating manufacturing jobs for metal parts and assemblies
- Strong knowledge of:
- CNC milling and turning
- Sheet metal fabrication
- Welding processes including MIG, TIG, and laser
- 3D printing processes and costing is a plus
- Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications
- Understanding of material costs, cycle times, labor costing, setup time, tooling, and production workflows
- Experience pricing machined, fabricated, welded, and assembled components
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Experience with ERP, estimating, quoting, or costing systems is a plus
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required
