Groundskeeper

Job Title: Groundskeeper Department: Grounds Reports To: Grounds Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary: $16.00- $ 18.00 an hour ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Groundskeeper at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center. This position will be responsible for assisting the landscape Crew Leader in maintaining the facility grounds by mixing soils, utilizing chemicals, and equipment necessary for the upkeep of the landscape while following safety requirements and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Digs holes for plants and trees using picks and shovels. Mix fertilizer and dirt in bottom of holes to enrich soil, Places trees and plants in designated areas. Attaches wires from planted trees to stakes to support trees. Hauls or spreads topsoil, using wheelbarrow and rake. Water lawns, trees, and plants using portable sprinkler system, hose or watering can. Spreads fertilizer or seed to enhance lawn and tree growth. Place decorative flowers in garden area. Mows lawns, trim hedges, trimming lawn edges. Worker must have knowledge, in using of power equipment to perform job duties Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 1-2 years of gardening or landscaping experience required Or equivalent combination of education and experience Skills and Abilities Good organization skills Good oral, written and interpersonal skills Ability to read chemical/fertilizer labels Ability to work with little supervision Ability to work weekends and holidays While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands and finger to handle or feel equipment; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. This position requires work in outdoor settings and may be subjected to adverse conditions.
