Available Afterschool Sites with their associated program schedule (schedule listed with unpaid 30 min meal break)
o William Penn Elementary; M-Th: 1 PM to 6:30 PM; F:12:00 – 5:30 PM – Occasional adjustment of schedule to fit program needs – 25 hours per week

Position Purpose
The Asian Association of Utah (AAU) refugee and immigrant youth focused Afterschool Staff Positions are responsible to work with their teams in carrying out the day to day after school programming that takes place at the program site they are assigned. The staff will be assigned one site for the duration of the school year where they will partner with one other team member to deliver afterschool programming. The program includes carrying out academic assistance, social/emotional learning (curriculum based) and other appropriate programming. The staff will work with the program coordinator and the program director to run all parts of the program. Data collection, reporting, and other responsibilities will be included in this role.
Schedule
Permanent position start August 1st 2025. Non-programming hours will be directed to administrative work including scheduling, lesson planning, collecting program data, and grant reporting. Position will continue through the summer with a slightly altered scheduled for our summer school programming.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute all activities in the Afterschool programming which includes but is not limited to carrying out homework help, programming (planned lessons), and any other field trips or partnership activities; the focus of this year is teaching Social Emotional Skills
- Supervise co-staff during afterschool program hours
- Collaborate with other afterschool staff in completing all grant objectives including staff from other program sites
- Planning alternate activities for homework time (for kids who do not have homework or have finished homework)
- Keeping program requirements and objectives up to date and organized – maintaining a consistent average daily attendance, recruiting new students, reporting, performing home/parent visits, etc.
- Collaborate in completing program reporting (recording data, analyzing data and writing brief reports)
- Completing other assigned tasks as needed
Other Considerations:
- bilingual individuals who speak refugee specific languages given preference
- teaching experience and/or degree/coursework in education
- experience with youth and children, refugees and diverse populations
- must have own transportation/valid driver's license for position – part of the position responsibilities is to assist in providing transportation home for the youth in afterschool programming; must have at least 2 years of driving experience with minimal violations (driving record check required)
- must pass background check
Compensation
- $18-20/hr DOE
- Prorated paid time off and paid holiday schedule offered
- Retirement with agency 6% contribution available after 2080 hours of employment completed
