Summary
The Washington, D.C. office of the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) is seeking an exceptional student with a demonstrated interest in international trade or international relations. The selected intern will directly support ASPI’s senior leadership with their research agendas and programming in Washington, D.C. and would be working on a wide range of international trade issues.
The tasks that the intern will perform aim to provide a real-world experience of the work performed by a leading think tank. ASPI is keen to help the Summer Intern improve their knowledge of international trade issues, enhance their analytical and organizational skills, and strengthen their ability to make contributions to the professional conversations about current and emerging issues in international trade.
The intern will also have opportunities to receive career mentoring from staff and attend ASPI events.
This summer, a significant part of the role will be dedicated to supporting in-person international trade programming, strengthening office outreach, and updating contact lists for the DC policy community.

Responsibilities
- Track and research development of current trade issues;
- Write, edit, and proofread research assignments and event/meeting summaries on critical trade issues, including economic security topics, tariffs, critical minerals policies, the America First Trade Agenda, new and existing industrial policies and more;
- Support the implementation and planning of corporate roundtable programs, the Emerging Female Leaders program, congressional outreach programs, and other in-person programming, through researching relevant issues, preparing program documents, drafting reports, and assisting with logistics;
- Draft content for the ASPI website, and developing social media content;
- Conduct data entry, including updating and maintaining contact databases;
- Track opportunities for engagement with partner organizations;
- Administrative work in support of ongoing projects including, but not limited to: event coordination and set-up, drafting invitations and event blurbs;
- Other duties, as assigned
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and not yet have graduated at the time of the internship.
- Demonstrated interest in Asia and international trade policy/international relations.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Superior time-management skills and ability to identify key priorities.
- Fluency in English required; knowledge of an Asian language an asset.
