Director of Procurement

Location: Denver, CO

Overview

Our client is seeking a Director of Procurement to lead sourcing and subcontractor strategy across a portfolio of large-scale, project-based initiatives.

This is not a traditional purchasing role focused on materials or commodities. The core of this position is negotiating and managing complex subcontractor and service provider relationships that support project delivery in dynamic, highly coordinated environments.

The organization operates in a project-driven setting where procurement plays a critical role in ensuring the right partners are engaged and that agreements are structured to support execution, cost control, and long-term performance. This role will work closely with project leadership to support renovation, installation, and infrastructure-related initiatives.

What You Will Own

You will lead procurement strategy across active and upcoming projects, working closely with project leadership to align on execution needs.

  • Lead procurement strategy for subcontracted services including construction, installation, and renovation-related work
  • Negotiate complex agreements with third-party contractors and service providers
  • Partner directly with project managers to align procurement decisions with project timelines and scope requirements
  • Evaluate and manage vendor relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost effectiveness
  • Support multiple concurrent projects across a diverse portfolio of initiatives
  • Drive consistency in procurement processes while maintaining flexibility to support project-specific needs
  • Monitor market conditions, pricing trends, and subcontractor availability to inform negotiation strategy
  • Ensure contracts are structured to mitigate risk and support successful project delivery

What Success Looks Like

  • Strong alignment between procurement and project teams
  • Subcontractor agreements that are competitive, executable, and aligned with project timelines
  • Reliable vendor partnerships that support consistent delivery across projects
  • Effective negotiation outcomes that balance cost, quality, and risk

What You Bring

This role requires a strong understanding of project-based procurement and the ability to negotiate within complex, service-driven environments.

  • Experience negotiating subcontractor or service-based agreements, not just materials procurement
  • Background in construction, renovation, infrastructure, or project-based industries
  • Ability to work closely with project managers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of structuring effective agreements
  • Understanding of project lifecycles and how procurement impacts execution
  • Experience managing multiple projects or priorities in parallel

Profile

  • Practical and execution-focused
  • Strong communicator who can operate effectively across project and vendor teams
  • Comfortable working in environments where priorities shift based on project needs
  • Detail-oriented with a clear understanding of risk and contract structure

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex, high-impact projects where procurement directly influences execution and outcomes.

If you are looking for a role that moves beyond transactional purchasing and into strategic project partnership and negotiation, this is that opportunity.
