What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Assistant position at Ashley Court of Brighton?
The activities assistant is an important part of the Ashley Court team. You will be responsible for implementing purposeful, meaningful activities for our residents that meet their spiritual, emotional, physical, psychological, and social needs. One-on-one and group activities should include a variety of mediums, such as art, music,exercise, discussion groups, and games. You will enhance the lives of the residents by being a positive part of their environment.
Responsibilities:
- Use our time effectively and efficently.
- Implement a creative program of individual and group activities based on residents' needs, interests, and abilities.
- Prepare and decorate for all holidays.
- Celebrate each residents' birthdays.
- Set up before activities, clean up, and put things back in order after the activity is completed.
- Participate in problem solving solutions regarding the resident's involvement.
- Maintain the resident's rights and confidentiality.
- Promote and contribute new ideas throughout the community.
- Be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, emotionally upset, or confused.
- Display empathy and patience necessary to work with the cognitively impaired elderly.
