What are the responsibilities and job description for the PFD Shift Leader position at Ashland Food Co–op?
Job Summary: To assist in leading the daily operations of the Prepared Foods Department in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Department Operations:
- Assist in monitoring the day-to-day department operations.
- Report potential issues or problems to Manager.
- Maintain safe working conditions.
- Assist in training employees in department procedures and safe working procedures and monitor on a consistent basis.
- Ensure all equipment is safe and in good working condition.
- Ensure all areas of department are clean and well-organized.
- Assist in making sure that all department products are fully stocked and rotated to ensure freshness.
- Assist in merchandising and resets.
- Ensure maintenance of all displays.
- Use signage, point-of-purchase, and recipe information to inform customers and to meet labeling requirement. Ensure accurate inventory control of all products.
Personnel:
- Monitor employees' work and report potential performance issues to Manager.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new employees.
- Maintain strict confidentiality about personnel issues affecting other employees while free to discuss issues affecting you as an individual or as a participant in concerted activities.
- Keep Manager information of personnel issues.
- Follow store procedures regarding accident reports and Worker's Compensation claims.
- Record all attendance variances from the posted schedule in the attendance log book, following store procedures regarding how to code absences.
Attendance/Punctuality:
- Is consistently at work and on time. Arrives at meeting and appointments on time.
Daily Physical Demands:
- Sit and review information on a computer screen or on paper for moderate periods of time (up to 2 hours day day with lunch and breaks)
- The position may require standing on a concrete floor for up to 8 hours.
- Use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Walk, climb, or balance and stoop.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Talk and hear.
