Job Summary
The Student Health Staff is the main link between the Oak Hill students/staff and the provider. The Student Health Staff provides care and related services to patients in the student health clinic.
Minimum Job Qualifications
This person would serve as day shift school health staff. This is a full-time position following the school calendar year, which includes a four-week summer session. The health staff would be part of a team responsible for the health and wellness of the student body, faculty, and staff. The day-shift hours are weekdays from 7:45 to 4:15.
Regulatory Requirements
Required Credentials: Current, valid credentials applicable to the candidate's professional discipline, including one of the following:

Regulatory Requirements
Required Credentials: Current, valid credentials applicable to the candidate's professional discipline, including one of the following:
- Registered Nurse (RN) – current, unrestricted NC or VA license
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – current, unrestricted NC or VA license
- Medical Assistant (MA) – current applicable MA certification/credential, if required for the position
- Paramedic – current, unrestricted NC or VA paramedic credential
- Current CPR certification
Essential Functions
- Arranging and distributing student medications.
- Assessing and triaging student health.
- Maintaining and documenting student medical records.
- Coordinating student medical appointments.
- Communicating student health needs with parents, and training faculty and staff on contemporary health issues and concerns.
- Manages the clinical function of the practice under the direction of the provider and Practice Manager.
- Trains and educates practice staff.
- Accurately obtain and record vital signs and pertinent observations of patient visit.
- Prepare patients and be readily available to assist provider.
- Follow physician orders to perform and/or assist phlebotomy, sterile procedures diagnostic procedures and other procedures within the scope of practice.
- Collect and process specimens.
- Facilitate patient flow.
- Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas.
- Communicate with patient by telephone and confer with provider.
- Educate patient who have special needs at the direction of the provider.
- Maintains Laboratory records and patient results.
- Monthly checks of medications for expiration dates.
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication and telephone skills. (Good verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.)
- Attends staff, educational, safety, and training meetings.
- Abide by policies and procedures of AMH.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
