Position Overview
The Ultrasound Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. This role requires independent judgment, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely imaging services.
Position Details
- Employment Type: PRN (as needed)
- Schedule: Daytime hours with evening call coverage as needed
- Travel: None required
- Supervisory Responsibilities: None
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations accurately and efficiently for all patient populations
- Ensure proper patient positioning and selection of appropriate transducers for each procedure
- Capture and submit high-quality diagnostic images to the Radiologist for interpretation
- Maintain ultrasound equipment and exam rooms in optimal working condition
- Utilize electronic systems, including Meditech, to verify orders and document procedures
- Manage imaging workflow through PACS, including image storage and CD creation
- Exercise independent clinical judgment, initiative, and attention to detail
- Cross-train and maintain competency in sonography practices as needed
- Assist with additional departmental tasks during periods of low patient volume
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program meeting ARRT or equivalent standards
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of ultrasound experience preferred; new graduates may be considered
- Certifications:
- Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) – preferred
- Current CPR certification – required
