Contract Payroll & Accounting Specialist (6-Month Term)
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and versatile Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic, project-based organization for a 6-month contract. This role blends payroll, HR administration, and light accounting support. You’ll be the go-to expert for payroll processing, timekeeping, and HRIS management, while also supporting our Controller with data tasks in SAP and Excel. Key Responsibilities
- Run bi-weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now
- Track and verify project hours weekly via ADP Timekeeper
- Maintain employee data in HRIS and timekeeping systems
- Audit payroll outputs and ensure accuracy of earnings, deductions, and W-2 balances
- Handle garnishments, tax updates, unemployment claims, and vacation/personal time accruals
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and leave
- Perform bi-weekly 401(k) reconciliation and support monthly ADP reporting
- Assist with early 2026 W-2 generation and distribution
- HR Administration support
- Assist the Controller with Excel-based reporting and data tasks
- Reconcile contractor invoices and labor hours
- Work within SAP Finance Module to support financial operations
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school OR 6 years of relevant experience/training
- Prior experience running payroll and timekeeping (ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with SAP Finance Module is a plus
- Strong Excel skills required (formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups)
- Experience tracking project hours is preferred
- Ability to adapt to new payroll/timekeeping systems (transition may occur during contract)
Work location: Auburn Hills. After initial training, may be able to work remotely 1 day per week.
Salary : $27 - $30
