Research Technician

About Ascribe Bioscience
Ascribe Bioscience is developing next-generation, sustainable crop protection products that help farmers improve crop health and resilience. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician to support our plant science research team in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
Position Summary
The Research Technician will conduct routine experiments, maintain laboratory and greenhouse operations, and help advance research projects focused on plant immune responses. This role includes plant care, experimental setup, data collection, reagent preparation, and general laboratory support. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and enthusiastic about contributing to impactful agricultural research.
Core Responsibilities
- Grow and maintain plants in greenhouse and growth chamber environments
- Conduct plant-based product efficacy assays
- Collect, record, and analyze experimental data
- Prepare reagents and order laboratory supplies
- Support inventory management and general laboratory upkeep
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient laboratory environment
- Communicate effectively with team members, collaborators, and supervisors
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Plant Sciences, Plant Pathology, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field, or
- Associate’s degree with 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Hands-on experience growing and managing plants in a research setting preferred
- Familiarity with basic plant molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR) and general laboratory methods
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
- Demonstrated interest in agriculture and sustainable crop science
Position Type & Expected Hours
- Work performed in laboratory, greenhouse, and office settings
- Regular use of laboratory instrumentation and standard office equipment
- This role may require occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holiday coverage to support plant care and experimental timelines
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
