What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist 2 position at Ascential Technologies?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Set up ProtoTrak SMX mill operator/programmer machines by installing and adjusting fixtures, attachments, and tooling according to job requirements
- Reads and interpret blue prints, drawings and engineering specifications to determine machining operations and requirements
- Adjusts machine and selects appropriate cuttings tools, speeds and feeds for each operation
- Load raw materials into machine and position them correctly for machining
- Operate machine to performing milling, drilling, boring and other machining operations
- Monitor machine operation, making necessary adjustments to ensure the production of high-quality parts
- Inspect finish product to ensure compliance with specification
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during machine operations
- Performance routine maintenance on machine to ensure optimal performance
- Maintain a clean and organized work area adhering to safety guidelines and regulations
- Interfaces with customers and vendors as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience (minimum of 5 years) as a Machinist
- Haas - ST 30 and lathe experience a plus
- In depth knowledge of milling machines and their operations
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, drawings and engineering specifications
- Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, speeds and feeds
- Frequently moves, lifts, transports, positions, and installs equipment and material greater than 20lbs
- Must own and have experience with using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high quality work
- Ability to manage time and meet project deadlines
