Summary of Position:

The Environmental Inspector position is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience supporting environmental compliance, construction oversight, field inspections, documentation, and project coordination.

The successful candidate will work with experienced environmental professionals, engineers, contractors, and clients on a variety of projects while developing practical knowledge of environmental regulations, best management practices, and field procedures.

The Environmental Inspector will assist with field inspections and environmental compliance activities for construction, infrastructure, industrial, and other client projects. This position requires travel to project sites, outdoor work in varying weather conditions, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prepare accurate reports and documentation.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine environmental and construction-site inspections.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, plans, and specifications.
  • Inspect erosion and sediment control measures, stormwater pollution prevention practices, spill prevention measures, and other environmental controls.
  • Document site conditions through written reports, photographs, field notes, checklists, and electronic inspection systems.
  • Identify potential environmental concerns, deficiencies, and permit violations.
  • Communicate observations and corrective-action needs to project managers, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with environmental sampling, monitoring, and data collection as assigned.
  • Review project activities for compliance with approved environmental plans and permit requirements.
  • Track corrective actions and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Support preparation of inspection reports, compliance documentation, permit records, and other project deliverables.
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates regarding environmental observations and compliance activities.
  • Maintain organized project files and accurate records.
  • Follow all company, client, and site-specific health and safety requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and timely documentation.
  • Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
  • Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a project team.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass any required client or project-specific qualifications.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, and navigate uneven or active construction-site terrain.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment or materials.
  • Occasional early-morning, extended-hour, weekend, or overnight travel may be required based on project needs.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 60.0 per week
