Summary of Position:
As an earthwork technician/inspector, you will perform site inspections, field testing observation, and inspection of construction operations and site development. As an earthwork technician, you will be responsible for overseeing quality assurance and quality control testing of materials (e.g. soils, asphalt, aggregate, concrete). You will be expected to communicate with project managers, technicians, client representatives, contractors, and others as applicable. Documentation regarding the construction site, project requirements, and observations will be reported. You will also transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. This position will be full-time and could include travel or occasional overnight stays.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ability to read construction plans.
- Perform observations and inspections in accordance with training and specified procedures.
- Ensure construction site regulatory permit requirements are being followed.
- Provide materials testing under WVDOH or client specific specifactions.
- Prepare and submit data and observations in the form of written and digital reports. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, work areas, and adhere to safety standards.
- Provide clear documentation of daily construction activities.
- Perform basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
- Maintain company-provided equipment.
- May attend job site-related meetings.
- Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
- Perform planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with site development and earthwork-related projects.
- WVDOH Materials Testing Certifications (Asphalt, Soil/Aggreagate, Concrete, and/or other) are preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to safely operate a vehicle.
- Performing basic computer functions.
- Ability to work in all types of outdoor environments.
- Work long hours as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
