We are seeking an experienced Medical Biller who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable in complex medical billing.
Position Summary
The Medical Biller will be responsible for managing all aspects of the revenue cycle, with a strong emphasis on motor vehicle (PIP), Workers' Compensation, and out-of-network commercial insurance billing. The ideal candidate is proactive, experienced in claim follow-up, and comfortable working independently to maximize collections.
Responsibilities
- Submit accurate electronic and paper claims.
- Manage billing for Medicare, motor vehicle (PIP), Workers' Compensation, and out-of-network insurance claims.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits when needed.
- Follow up on unpaid, denied, and underpaid claims.
- Appeal claim denials and prepare supporting documentation.
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
- Review and reconcile accounts receivable.
- Communicate with insurance carriers, attorneys, case managers, and patients regarding claim status.
- Monitor aging reports and aggressively work outstanding balances.
- Ensure compliance with payer guidelines and applicable regulations.
- Work closely with providers and administrative staff to resolve billing issues.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Medicare, motor vehicle (PIP), Workers' Compensation, and out-of-network billing.
- Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
- Experience appealing denied claims and resolving reimbursement issues.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Pain Management, Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, or a related specialty.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management systems.
- Knowledge of New Jersey PIP and Workers' Compensation billing regulations.
