Legal Accounting Specialist

Ascension Global Staffing & Executive Search is seeking an experienced Legal Accounting Specialist with 5 years of experience to join a well-established law firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong understanding of law firm financial operations, billing, and accounting procedures.

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple accounting responsibilities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and excellent service.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day legal accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.

• Prepare, review, and process client invoices, legal billing, and related financial documentation.

• Monitor client payments, process receipts, reconcile accounts, and follow up on outstanding balances.

• Assist with monthly bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.

• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are properly documented and recorded.

• Review and process expense reports, vendor invoices, and payment requests.

• Assist with trust accounting and client fund reconciliations, as applicable.

• Support financial reporting, account analysis, and preparation of accounting summaries.

• Collaborate with attorneys, legal support staff, and firm management to resolve billing discrepancies and accounting inquiries.

• Maintain compliance with applicable accounting procedures, internal controls, and confidentiality requirements.

• Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

• 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.

• Experience with legal billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliations.

• Familiarity with law firm accounting practices and legal billing procedures.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with legal accounting or billing platforms is a plus.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.

• A proactive, dependable, and team-oriented approach.
